About Mexico Expat Tools
Free calculators and plain-English guides for foreigners living in, retiring to or moving to Mexico.
Why this site exists
Mexican residency, tax and property rules are spread across government websites, consulate pages and forum threads, and many of the numbers change every January. Most questions have a simple answer once you know the rule: how much income do I need for residency, what will INM charge me, do I need a bank trust to buy near the beach. Mexico Expat Tools turns those rules into 10 quick tools that give you the answer for your own situation, with guides that explain the rest.
How we keep it accurate
- Every number a tool uses comes from a published source, listed at the bottom of each tool page.
- We prefer official sources such as the National Migration Institute (INM), Mexican consulates, the tax authority (SAT), INEGI and the Official Gazette (DOF), and say when a source is an independent guide.
- We re-check every tool against its sources each month. The date of the last check is shown on each tool.
- Calculators run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored.
What this site is not
Mexico Expat Tools is independent and is not part of, or endorsed by, the Mexican government. Results are estimates to help you plan, not legal, tax or immigration advice. Consulates and INM offices often apply rules differently, so confirm anything important with the official office or a qualified professional.
